Wendy D. Whitson was born in Norwalk, California on October 31, 1962. She was admitted to the California Bar in 1987. A native of Sonoma County, she practiced for ten years with and was a partner in the San Francisco real estate law firm, Zankel and McGrane, before joining Anderson, Zeigler, Disharoon, Gallagher & Gray.
